One of the most vivid memories I have from Thailand is of the festival called ‘Songkran’ which signifies the Thai New Year. Songkran coincides with the harvest festivals celebrated across several cultures in South Asia and South-East Asia. In India, it is celebrated in different regions around the same time and goes by the names Ugadi, Vishu, Baisakhi etc. What sets the celebration apart, however, is that it has become a tourist attraction seeing participation of both natives and foreigners in large numbers.
5 lessons I learnt from my Corporate career
Turning back after spending a decade as an SAP Consultant, I’m grateful to my career for having given me the opportunity to widen my horizons and enrich my life, both personal as well as professional. I was fortunate to work alongside a roster of talented people, across multiple business domains , in multiple geographies, with great multicultural teams, designing and delivering complex enterprise solutions. It was a journey filled with many highs and lows. I’m sharing a few takeaways from this journey.
Reflecting on the India-China Border Agreement(1992)
The India-China relationship has always interested me. The two countries that stood tall in the long history of human civilization and progress, without any direct conflicts before the twentieth century, are now pitted against one another. The reasons for conflict and how both perceived each other was always difficult to understand with conflicting narratives abound. Thus to gain some clarity on the bilateral relationship I started reading the book ‘Choices’ written by Ambassador Shivshankar Menon, India’s former NSA and a ‘China expert’.
